Title: Research Assistant

Jacquez Daniels received his B.S. in Entomology and recently completed his M.S. in Entomology at Florida A&M University (FAMU), where he now serves as a research assistant. His graduate research focused on the nutritional ecology, development, and oviposition behavior of black soldier flies (Hermetia illucens) and their role in sustainable agriculture and insect-based systems.

Throughout his time at FAMU, Jacquez has been actively involved in research, outreach, and student engagement activities within the Entomology Program. He presented his work at several regional and national avenues and won awards. His experience includes insect collection and curation, outreach, entomology education programs, and science communication initiatives.

Along with his research, he currently works with Gulf South Vector on content creation and outreach materials that support education and awareness surrounding vectors and IPM programs throughout the Gulf South region. As part of the 2026 Association of Research Directors (ARD) Research Symposium in New Orleans, Jacquez visited the Gulf South Vector headquarters to learn more about vector surveillance, mosquito monitoring, and IPM operations. Experiences such as these have helped expand his understanding of applied entomology and collaborative outreach efforts.

In future, Jacquez plans to continue pursuing opportunities in entomological research, insect systematics, museum curation, and outreach.
