Description:
Adults are small, cylindrical beetles, 2–4 mm long, with a brown to black coloration. Their heads are broad and noticeable, marked by a distinct groove down the front. Females can be identified by a broad, elevated ridge on the pronotum. The larvae are wrinkled, yellowish?white grubs without legs, but with large heads and strong, dark jaws. Mature larvae grow to about 7 mm in length.
