Pecan bacterial leaf scorch (PBLS) is a disease of pecan caused by the bacteria Xylella fastidiosa subsp. multiplex. This disease has bee reported and observed in several states throughout the southeastern and southwestern United States. This fact sheet provides a general overview of the disease as well well as descriptions of the symptoms, pathogen and disease spread, and management options. The fact sheet also contains images of symptoms, a list of pecan cultivars in which PBLS has been observed, and step-by-step instructions for a hot-water treatment of pecan scions to help reduce the spread of Xylella fastidiosa into new orchards and locations.
